Ph.D. Candaidate Asif won the 1st position and People's Choice Award in the 3MT 2025-26 Final Competition. He will represent UL Lafayette in the state-level competetion in January 2026 and regional competition in February. Congratulations Asif!
Our project, Computational mechanobiology of in situ chondrocytes and cartilage in health and disease, received LA BoR RCS fund ($170,072).
2024
Dr. Faisal (Co-PI) and his team revieved LA Board of Regents Comprehensive Enhnancement Award (~$1 M). This will enable to acquire a high-precision mechanical tester capable of doing multiple-axis testing in compression, tension, shear, indexation and torsion, in various modes including dynamic, static, and waveform loading.
Dr. Faisal revieved Louisiana Economic Development Authority (LEDA) fund ($66,066) for his project titled Biomechanics and mechanobiology of cartilage in health and disease: Unravelling the differential response under hyper-physiological loading.
2022
Our project, Design and development of architected cellular core structure to enhance the structural performance of SPS bridge decks received
LA Department of Transportation supported TIRE award ($30,000). This work is a collaboration with Civil Engineering department.
Our project, Machine learning approach in
the design and fabrication of ultralightweight mechanical metamaterials via additive manufacturing, received LAMDA Seed Funding, supported by NSF and LA BoR.
Kaya Jones, a junior year student of Biology and Shahrzad Massiha, a junior of Chemistry recevied the LABoR-SURE Award for 2022. Congrtulations to Kaya and Shahrzad!
